Go NAPSACC Success Story - Strengthening Support Through Innovation Nebraska

Go NAPSACC partners with states across the country to help them build early care and education (ECE) practices, policies, and environments that support children’s health and well-being. In Nebraska, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension is using Go NAPSACC to help consultants manage larger caseloads more efficiently—while still prioritizing strong relationships and individualized support.

This success story comes from Ashton Figgner, who shared how Nebraska is embracing innovation to better support early childhood educators.

"Strengthening Support Through Innovation Nebraska has long been dedicated to supporting early childhood providers in creating healthier environments for young children. In the early stages of Go NAPSACC implementation, consultants worked within their accountability regions to conduct site visits, host in-person training sessions, and develop individualized action plans. This relationship-driven approach was highly effective, but it came with logistical hurdles.

Scheduling in-person meetings with each provider often proved challenging. Coordinating calendars, preparing printed materials, and managing/updating action plans required a significant time investment. As a result, consultants typically worked with a limited number of providers at any given time to maintain quality support. While the impact was strong, the process was time and resource intensive.

As virtual training and communication methods evolved—and especially during the COVID-19 pandemic—Nebraska recognized the need for a more efficient and flexible model. The transition to the updated Go NAPSACC platform, developed by North Carolina, came at the right time and has transformed how technical assistance is delivered across the state.

The new platform has streamlined the action planning process, allowing consultants and providers to collaborate in real time. Action steps are now saved automatically within the site, and the integrated Technical Assistance (TA) section provides a centralized space for notes and documentation. These improvements have significantly reduced paperwork and manual tracking.

With fewer administrative burdens, consultants are now able to manage larger caseloads and serve more providers within their regions. Virtual meetings have become a preferred method of engagement, giving providers the flexibility to meet from their homes or classrooms and reducing the delays once caused by travel and scheduling conflicts.

Nebraska’s approach remains grounded in strong relationships and individualized support, but now delivered through a more accessible, efficient, and responsive system. By embracing innovation while staying true to our core values, Nebraska has strengthened its role as a leader in effective technical assistance and early childhood health promotion." - Ashton Figgner, Go NAPSACC State Partner
