Go NAP SACC - The Next Generation of NAP SACC

NAP SACC (Nutrition and Physical Activity Self-Assessment for Child Care) has a new online home and exciting plans in the works! Go NAP SACC, NAP SACC’s newest project, will offer an online suite of tools for improving nutrition and physical activity in early care and education settings.

Go NAP SACC will continue the success of NAP SACC, which has become a trusted resource for child care providers making healthy changes nationwide. Go NAP SACC is made possible through a grant from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation. Since receiving this funding in 2012, the Go NAP SACC team at the University of North Carolina Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention has been hard at work. “Our vision is to support child care providers and technical assistance professionals with easy-to-use, evidence-based online resources,” says Dr. Dianne Ward, lead researcher in the development of Go NAP SACC. “We are grateful to have this opportunity to update NAP SACC and move it online so that more professionals can use it to support the wellbeing of young children.”

The debut of the new homepage is an exciting milestone for Go NAP SACC, as is the release of the updated and expanded Go NAP SACC self-assessment. Behind the scenes, the Go NAP SACC staff is busy building an interactive online self-assessment tool to help child care providers compare their practices with Go NAP SACC’s best practices. Another feature in the works is an online action planning tool to make it even easier for providers reach their goals. These tools will be tested in 2014 and ready for providers in North Carolina to use in 2015.

There will be many new developments in Go NAP SACC over the next few years. Stay tuned by signing up for e-mail updates on the homepage and joining Go NAP SACC on Facebook.
